Allergies
Allergic reactions to food or environmental conditions are a common problem. Allergies generally stem from an imbalance rooted in the immune system (especially environmental allergens). Allergies are responses triggered by the immune system when a specific type of food (or environmental substance) enters the body, is recognized as a harmful substance, and is rejected- this substance is called the Allergen. The response from the immune system is to produce antibodies, which will combat the allergen. Often times the immune system over reacts to the allergen, and will produce toxic chemicals such as Histamine. This chemical is responsible for the symptoms associated with allergies. The overreaction of the immune system affects the tissues, organs, skin, mucous membranes, lungs, sinuses, and gastrointestinal tract.
Allergic symptoms may include;
-Itchy and watery eyes
-Nasal drip and sinus congestion
-Skin reactions, typically a rash or hives
-Fatigue
-Headache
-Intestinal gas or pains
-Abdominal bloating
-Irritability
